What is Recovery?
Recovery is the concept of optimizing healing, using techniques such as ice, heat, and pressure. Recovery generally follows physical therapy or workouts, helping to fend off fatigue and overuse of muscles. It can be very effective in controlling how long it takes to heal, minimizing that timeframe, but more than that, it offers the best possible outcome following the treatment of injury or fatigue.
Recovery services include specific services like cold plunges, which is the immersion of the body in a body of cold water, or sauna, which involves warm, circulating air in order to improve circulation. There are a variety of ways in which to complement your physical therapy sessions or promote healing after workouts, which is why we encourage adding them to your routine at Evolution Long Island.

How Recovery Works
Getting started with Recovery is simple. Your Physical Therapist might suggest you book a recovery appointment after a certain point in your treatment, as it could aid your healing. Likewise, if you work out frequently, or would like to enjoy exercise without as much muscle soreness or tightness, you might want to consider setting up a recovery session of your own.
Just as with booking a physical therapy appointment or signing up for a fitness class, you can do so online by going to our Recovery portal here and selecting a service. As recovery services require a reservation, due to their limited use and capacity, you should reserve a time and date to ensure you’ll have access to the service you need.
What are the Benefits of Recovery
Different types of recovery services have different benefits. In general, Recovery as a practice is beneficial for these common reasons:

Just as with fitness classes, you will follow the onscreen instructions. For example, if you are signing up for Sauna, you would follow the prompts and pick your time slot to complete registration. Alternatively, you can make your appointment over the phone by calling (516) 514-7782.

Unlike Fitness classes, Recovery sessions are meant for one person at a time, so you don’t have to wait for a class to start. You should be at your session at the designated time so you can start at the beginning of your scheduled appointment.
